2017 AMPO Annual Conference

The 2017 AMPO Annual Conference Presentations are now available.

The 2017 AMPO Annual Conference was held October 17 – 20 in Savannah, Georgia. It brought together MPO staff, Policy Board members, federal and state employees, and consultants who shared information on a variety of MPO issues.

Mark Fenton, national public health, planning, and transportation consultant and adjunct associate professor at Tufts University, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy gave the Keynote address. Mr. Fenton provided an energetic presentation on the connection between public health,, planning, and transportation.

With a dynamic agenda that included 58.5 approved AICP credits, the AMPO conference showcased a talented group of presenters.

During the 2017 AMPO Awards, MPOs and individuals were honored for advancing their organizations through the planning process and shaping sustainable regions. Congratulations to this year’s winners:

  • Outstanding Overall Achievement for a TMA MPO: Des Moines Area MPO
  • Honorable Mentions: Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County Nevada and North Florida TPO
  • Outstanding Overall Achievement for a non-TMA MPO: Champaign County Regional Planning Commission
  • Excellence in MPO Coordination & Partnership: Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Association
  • Outstanding Elected Official Leadership: Mayor Madeline Rogero, City of Knoxville
  • The Ronald F. Kirby National Award for Outstanding Individual Leadership: Alan Clifford Clark, Houston-Galveston Area Council
