Highway 6 widening project approved with area road projects

The Bryan/College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization took a step forward Wednesday with its plans to fund the widening of Highway 6. The MPO’s policy board approved to program projects from 2019 to 2026. Starting in 2019, it will be spending $13 million a year on projects. That’s an $11 million increase from 2018. Because of the commitment from the MPO, the Texas Department of Transportation will contribute $50 million for the construction on Highway 6.The B/CS MPO is only one of two out of the total 25 MPOs across the state to successfully program interstate maintenance funds in a 10 year period.
