The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is the transportation planning, financing and coordinating agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. MTC’s Design and Project Delivery Section is tasked with design alternative assessments, operational and capital project delivery, and mobility/demand management.

MTC is recruiting for an Assistant/Associate Project Engineer who will support the delivery of operational and capital projects on and off of the Caltrans State Highway System. The work involved will be technical in nature in the areas of environmental review, design, right of way and construction. It will also require a contract administration effort including consultant procurements and contracts, cooperative agreements with Caltrans, and coordination and collaboration with Caltrans, Congestion Management Agencies (CMAs), transit agencies, private consulting firms, business and organizations, and other sections within MTC.

The ideal candidate must have good project management skills, be able to meet deadlines, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, effectively review, analyze and resolve project related technical issues, and organize, analyze and document technical and policy analysis using software programs as applicable. The individual have a bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering, transportation planning, project management, public finance or public administration and at least one year of relevant experience related to the area of assignment.
